ACCADEMIA DEI LINCEI
The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei is located in Rome and is one of the oldest Italian academies.
It was founded in 1603 by Federico Cesi, Francesco Stella, Anastasio De Filiis and Johannes van Heeck, with the aim of providing a forum for meetings for the development of science.
Its name refers to the acuteness which must have the view of those who dedicate themselves to science, physiological property that characterizes the lynx. The Academy is a member of the International Union of Institutes of Archaeology.
The academy is housed in the Palazzo Corsini in Lungara and in the nearby Villa Farnesina.
